The Lions Club of Anthony Village has installed   Aisha Oyiza Ibrahim as its 5th president to run its affairs in the 2021/2023 Lions service year. Other officers were also inducted. The installation and investiture ceremony took place in Ikeja and it featured presentation of awards to members, who have showed exemplary commitments to the club’s growth in the last year.

Chairman of the occasion, Adeshola Giwa, in his welcome address urged other lions not to relent in their efforts in carrying out the landmark achievements which they are known for such as rendering services to individuals and various communities around them.

According to him, Lions focus more on three cardinal things such as prevention of blindness, diabetes, hunger and childhood cancer.

Outgoing president, Anne Nwauzoma, in her farewell speech, called on members to join hands with her successor to make sure the service to humanity in Anthony does not die despite the challenges in the country. Recounting some of her projects, she said despite the COVID-19 endemic in the country then, it did not deter her from fulfilling the mandate of service to man and the club was active in all activities of the district for the year 2021/2022.

Aisha Oyiza Ibrahim in her inaugural address expressed her gratitude to members of the club for counting her worthy to pilot the affairs of the club for a year. She promised that she will engage in various activities and that will be transparent to all.

She said: “I will fulfil the purpose and mandate of being elected as a Lion president. I am a non partisan leader and I will not go into politics but focus on humanitarian activities that will boost the lives of less privilege in the community.”

Dignitaries that graced the occasion included Chief Adeshola Giwa, District Governor 4041 2022/2023; Anogwi Anyanwu, Regional Chairperson; Nwake Chinenye and Austin Onono.
