The Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo and Gospel Baptist Theological Seminary Awe, Oyo State, recently signed an MoU on academic affiliation to run approved B.A, B.SC degrees, M.A. and M.Sc programmes.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Dapo Asaju, Vice Chancellor, Mrs. Adenike Fatogun, Registrar, on behalf of the university, while Prof. Magnus Adeyemi Atilade, visitor, Prof. David Omole, Rector, and Bishop J.S. Okeyanju, registrar, signed for Gospel Baptist Theological Seminary.

The historic event took place in Awe. One of the objectives of the university according to Prof. Asaju, is to bring education very nearer to suitable learners. The Seminary/Theological College is to engage in the provision of academic and theological training. The university agreed with the Seminary/Theological College to run the Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree/M.A programmes in Christian Religious Studies in the Faculty of Humanities.

The parties are expected to set out in the MoU, the general principles and terms that would govern their relationship in respect of the proposed affiliation. The affiliated institution shall operate the curriculum of the university for each respective affiliated programmes, Asaju stated, stressing that the university and the Seminary/Theological College shall put in place quality assurance mechanism to ensure that only the best quality training, teaching and learning take place in the programmes.

Prof. Atilade expressed optimism after signing the MoU that the academic affiliation would achieve its lofty objectives now and in future to boost academic excellence in the country.
