Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) of Ondo State, on Wednesday, swore in
18 newly-appointed commissioners and five Special Advisers.
The commissioners were appointed by Akeredolu six months after his
inauguration as governor of the state.
The state’s House of Assembly had, penultimate week, confirmed the names of the 18 persons appointed as commissioners after series of scrutiny and debate.
The new commissioners included son of the late former Governor of the
state, Chief Adebayo Adefarati, Adegboyega, and the younger brother of
late Governor Olusegun Agagu, Femi.
Also appointed as commissioners are veteran journalists, Messrs Donald
Ojogo and Yemi Olowolabi among others.
Governor Akeredolu in his speech urged the new commissioners and
Special Advisers to work for the progress and development of the state
in their capacities political office holders in the state.
While warning the new appointees against asterity, Akeredolu said
political office should not be an avenue to amath wealth, but a call
He said the state expects much from the new appointees, hence the need
to serve selflessly with the fear of God.
The Governor also enjoined the new political appointees to see
themselves as privileged people who are chosen out of many other
competent and qualified people.
He warned them against acts that could undermine the confidence
reposed in them by the people of Ondo State.
