Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has disclosed that his administration would partner with Wema Bank, to enable him fulfill some of his campaign promises to the people of the state.

Akeredolu made this known, on Monday, while receiving officials of the bank, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Office in Akure.

He also said that the bank should come up with ideas on how to develop the state, commending the bank’s managing Director on the bank’s readiness to go into partnership with the state government.

“We have interest in Wema Bank and the greatest thing they have offered us is their partnership which I am sure, they can take for granted because we have no option than to partner with them.

“They also donated one of their top officers who has assisted us immeasurably on our budget and economic committee,’’ he added.

Akeredolu described Wema Bank as “our bank, and there is no way we will run away from it”.

Earlier, Mr Segun Oloketuyi, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Wema Bank Plc, congratulated the governor and wished him a successful tenure which he said, should bring good tidings to Ondo State.

He explained that they were the major stakeholders in Ondo, the biggest bank with 11 branches, and had no regrets to belong to South-West States.

“We have gone beyond the south-west to most parts of the north, east and the south-south, but our strength is still in this part of Nigeria.
