Speaker of Akwa Ibom House.of Assembly,  Mr Onofiok Luke, who was also the candidate of the PDP, in Etinan Federal Constituency, has been declared  winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

Luke, a two-term member of the Assembly, representating Nsit Ubium State Constituency,  polled 44,830 votes against his closest rival, and former member of House of Representatives, Mr. Dan Akpan of the APC, who scored 15,800 votes.

Luke assured the people of his readiness to offer them a voice which they can depend on in the National Assembly.  Accompanied by his wife, Uduak, his campaign director, Mr Anietie Etuk, and the state PDP chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, Luke thanked his supporters for their sacrifices and their support during the election, saying he would justify the confidence reposed in him by the masses.

In Ekiti, former House of Representatives member and All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate in Ekiti Central, Opeyemi Bamidele, has won the senatorial seat.

Bamidele got 94,279 votes to trounce the PDP candidate, Obafemi Adewale. Adewale polled 48,707 votes.

Meanwhile, Governor Kayode Fayemi, yesterday, said he remained grateful to God for the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in Ekiti  State.

0Dr. Fayemi also expressed gratitude to Ekiti people for their peaceful conduct during the election, thereby making the conduct of the election peaceful and orderly in the state. He spoke at the Government House Chapel, Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, where he worshiped; alongside Prince Dayo Adeyeye (senator-elect for Ekiti Central) and  Sola Fatoba (member-elect, House of Representatives, Ekiti Central 1) and a former deputy governor in the state, Prof. Dupe Adelabu.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, the governor, however, sympathised with families of victims of election violence as reported in some parts of the country.
