Jafaru Sougie, the man who allegedly murdered his wife, Roseline, at 8, Araromi Street
in Oshodi area of Lagos, has died at the Police Hospital, Ikoyi, where he has been on admission
since the incident on Friday May 27.
He is alleged to have died as a result of poison he allegedly ingested after the death of his wife.
The 48-year-old, unemployed trailer driver as reported, on that day allegedly slit his wife’s
throat, and was suspected to have taken some poisonous substance in an attempt to commit
suicide.
Jafaru was found vomiting in the bathroom of their room and parlour apartment at 4am by their
son, Richmond, who ran into his parent’s room to inform his mother of her husband’s condition,
but found her corpse and then raised the alarm.
According to police source, Jafaru suffered a drastic weight loss since his arrest and was
unable to eat. The source said Jafaru began regaining consciousness after days of receiving
treatment from a team of medical experts, who included psychiatrists and psychologists, but
gave up the ghost yesterday morning.
