A Non Governmental Organization (NGO) Almajiris’Support Initiative of Nigeria, has commenced enlightenment and lecturing of less privileged across Kebbi state on the need to participate actively in the collection of voter’s card and forthcoming general elections.
The participants were drawn from 21 local government areas of the state and coverged at the NGO headquarters,Birnin Kebbi for the lecture.
While briefing newsmen on the motive behind the lecture,founder of the NGO,Alhaji Umar Shehu explained that the essence of organized the voter’s education is to educate the less privileged and general public on important of the voter’s card.
According to him, “the essence of organizing this programme is to educate the participants, general public on the important of the voter’s education ahead of the election.
“Our target of doing this is to ensure that we elected good leaders, sensible people who will represent us the way we want. People who will deliver their campaign promises and not renegate their promises. To ensure that we elected people who will restore peace to our society.
“People who will be guiding our young ones towards right directions and be just to all the citizens. That is why we are organizing this programme”, he said.
Shehu, added that INEC has assured the less privileged especially,the physically challenged citizens that their rights would be properly protected.
“We are urging all the physically challenged across the country,to collect their permanent voter’s cards and prepared themselves to elect good leaders that would be representing them at various capacities”.
He appealed to the general public and eminent Nigerians to come to the rescue of the NGO,which he said need permanent Secretariat, vehicles and feeding to survive in discharging it’s humanitarian services to the less privileged in the society.
