Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has given a seven-day ultimatum to waterways operators to register or face the full wrath of the law.

The governor spoke against the backdrop of recent judgmemt of the Court of Appeal on the right of the state to control its waterways.

Two organisations, including the Incorporated Trustees of the Association of Tourist Boat Operators and the Incorporated Trustees Dredgers Association of Nigeria, in 2012, sued the state government and other parties at the  Federal High Court, seeking a determination on where to pay dredging and boat operation fees.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Adeniji Kazeem, Ambode also described the judgment as not only a landmark, but an erudite one which is also a big plus for federalism in the country.
