From Petrus Obi,
A founding member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Onwuka Ukwa, has boasted that despite the lingering leadership crisis, the party will sweep the polls and retain the governorship position in the state.
Ukwa, who addressed newsmen in Enugu on the backdrop of the recent takeover of the national secretariat by Chief Martin Agbaso as national chairman of APGA, assured Nigerians that the party elders are on the path of returning APGA to the status of a national political party.
He said: “I am speaking as the leader of the party, and I assure every member of the party that the process of returning an APGA governor in Anambra state is well on its proper cause and nothing will stop us. Now that the leadership of the party as affirmed by the appellate court has formally taken over the APGA secretariat in Abuja, we are not going to look back in our quest to retain the governorship position in the state in November.
“I wish to thank the members of our great party for their continued support of the leadership of Chief Martin Agbaso as the national chairman of the party. The idea that the position of national chairman of APGA should again be returned to Anambra defies common sense.
“This is a national political party and therefore it is so insensitive and the height of greed for one to insist on having the governor, chairman of the BoT, the leader, national leader, national chairman, all the past party ambassadors from Anambra state.”
He commended the efforts of security agents for supporting the party leadership and assisting to ensure the physical take over the secretariat.
