A group, Anambra State Association USA (ASA-USA Inc.) has said that only the best candidate would emerge the next governor in Anambra come November 18, 2017.
The group which is the umbrella association for all Anambra State citizens resident in the United States of America said it has put machinery in motion to expose any fraudulent candidate, political party and group in the forthcoming election.
It said, “We are stating it clearly here that as a watchdog organization, ASA-USA Inc. will not hesitate to call out and bring to public attention any candidate, group or political party whose actions and conducts enable or cause the disturbance of the peace and welfare of ndi Anambra during and after this election period.”
To ensure that the best emerges, ASA-USA said it would love to see a platform where the candidates of the various political parties would articulate their positions and visions for the state.
In a statement signed by Mr. Michael Iloegbunam and Mr. Nnamdi Ozoh, the national president and national secretary respectively of the association, the body advised the people of the state against selling their voter cards for cash or any gift item.
Reminding the people of the importance of the election to the heart and soul of the state, ASA-USA Inc. warned them not to mortgage the life of the citizens and future of the children.
The statement reads in part, “Anambra State Association USA Inc. (ASA-USA Inc.) is evidently aware of the forthcoming gubernatorial election for our beloved home Anambra State. The election as always is about the heart and soul of our state Anambra, the life of its citizens and the future of our children born and unborn.
“The seriousness of the task at hand demands that all hands must be on deck to ensure that only the best candidate is voted into place to serve as the next executive governor of Anambra State. However, we will be unable to elect the best individual to serve Anambra State, without the electorate understanding the candidates’ platforms/programmes and visions for our Anambra State.
“In other to help educate anyibundi Anambra on the real personalities that want to be our governor for the next four years, ASA-USA Inc. will love to see a platform where the candidates of various political parties will articulate their positions and visions for our beloved state.
ASA-USA Inc. is calling on fellow ndi Anambra to ensure that they come out on the day of election and cast their votes. Every voter must insist that their vote counts. Say no to anyone who wants to buy your voter cards for cash or any other gift. Governorship election is not a joke; we must not sell the position for a handful of cash. We are stating it clearly here that as a “watchdog organization,” ASA-USA Inc. will not hesitate to call out and bring to public attention any candidate, group or political party whose actions and conducts enable or cause the disturbance of the peace and welfare of ndi Anambra during and after this election period,” the statement read
