Against claims by some individuals and political parties that they have been endorsed for the governorship seat by one of the strongest political forces in Anambra State, Old Aguata Union (OAU), the union has denied endorsing any governorship aspirant for the November 18, 2017 election.

Arising from a meeting at the weekend, the Union which is the umbrella body of three local government areas of Aguata, Orumba North and Orumba South stated that the clarification became necessary to caution some of the aspirants already claiming to have its support to desist from such.

Addressing newsmen in Awka after the maiden meeting of the union’s new executive, the chairman, Barr JC Nwikpo noted that the union was still studying the State’s polity and that it will not unveil its choice until after the primary election of the contesting political parties.

Nwikpo further said that it was too early to begin to endorse candidates for the election; since candidates for the political parties were yet to emerge and urged those dropping the union’s to stop forthwith.

According to him OAU has a good number of it’s indigenes, who were vying for the seat, hence has inaugurated a committee to study the aspirants and make recommendations on which should be adopted as the candidate of the area.

On the recently held election of the Union, Nwikpo commended the members of the union for comporting themselves well and making the election peaceful.
