Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.  Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

Hearing and receiving instructions is one of the important keys to obtaining favour from God and man. You must be willing to listen to those who God has placed above you who know more than you do.

One secret to Esther’s rise to becoming a queen in Babylon was the fact that she required nothing except what Hegai had given to her.  Esther 2:15 says “now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.”

Esther received instructions from Hegai the King’s chamberlain who knew the king very well and had understanding of what the king required from his would be queen. This act of taking instructions brought Esther into favour with the king, above all the other women who were in competition for the position of Queen.

This is a secret to promotion in the work place. If you work, you must learn to follow the instructions of your bosses who know better than you, how the organisation should be run. Avoid making independent decisions.

Everyone needs a Hegai in his life. Hegai was the King’s chamberlain. He Knew the king more than anyone else and hence could advice better than anyone else on what the king liked. To become a queen to the king, you need to know what the king likes.

Today, Hegai represents anyone in your life who knows God more than you, your pastors and your spiritual leaders. It is important to seek godly counsel from them to enjoy God’s favour.

Most people run into troubles in life because they make their own independent decisions unilaterally without seeking counsel from people who know God more than them.

Some actually run away from people who would tell them the truth just because they want to do their own thing. To enjoy God’s favour, you have to do what pleases Him. Following the instructions of the scripture will make you wise. Before you take a step, always ask yourself,’ what does the Bible say about this?’

If you do not know what the Bible says, then go to someone who knows the Bible more than you to ask such a person what the Bible requires you to do in such situations before taking a step. You can enjoy the kind of favor that Racheal enjoyed too.

Genesis 29:17-18 says “Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured. And Jacob loved Rachel  and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.”

This scripture reveals to us that there is a connection between favor, love and relationships especially with respect to finding a life partner and sustaining a relationship if you are already married or in a relationship.

Rachel was well favoured over Leah, Jacob loved her simply because she had a magnetizing and favor inducing atmosphere around her. First, the scripture reveals that she was beautiful. I love the way the International standard version of the bible renders that verse: Genesis 29:17…”Leah looked rather plain, but Rachel was lovely in form and appearance.”

Leah looked rather plain, she did not know that sometimes favour before men can be induced by your looks. Rachel was lovely in form and appearance.

If you are single and trusting God for a relationship, it is important for you to know that your physical and spiritual appearance is speaking volumes and either repelling or attracting the right people to you.

Every single born again Christian wants to be in a relationship with someone who is glaringly very serious with the things of God. If you are openly serious with your commitment to God, you will easily find favour from people who are spiritual and they will want to ask you out.

Leah did not care about her looks, she was just plain. Many young people do not recognise that packaging and looking good on the outside is the first step to being noticed. Then possessing an inner beauty that pours from the inside into everything you do is the secret to sustaining the attraction.

Your character matters a lot in finding marital favour if you are single and also plays a significant role in enjoying peace in your marriage if you are already married. You have to learn to be respectful and soft-spoken. You have to be gentle in your dealings if you want to find favor. You have to be humble, selfless and willing to serve others. You have to be deep in the things of God if you want to sustain favor before men.

Selfishness, arrogance and sarcasm will destroy your relationships. If you are disrespectful and violent with your tongue, you cannot find favour or joy in that relationship.

What makes a man or woman attractive is the God factor in his or her life. Godly character and behaviour is the oil for favor in relationship. If you are single and are unserious about the things of God, and you do not take church seriously, you will attract people like you who are also unserious about the things of God.

God is love and for you to have a happy relationship you need someone who truly has a relationship with God. If he or she doesn’t have God then he doesn’t have love. If you are not deep into the things of God yourself, you cannot truly give love because God is love and those who know God deeply are the only ones who can give real love.
