The All Progressives Congress (APC) North West zone stakeholders have resolved to drum support for the choice of former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, as running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The resolution was taken in Dutse, Jigawa State capital when the APC National Vice Chairman (North West), Salihu Moh Lukman, led stakeholders on a tour of the zone.

The statement issued in Abuja by Malam Musa Mailafiya Mada, APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West) after the tour, revealed that they also discussed strategies to bring victory to the party.

“Prominent among issues raised at the meeting is the emergence of Kashim Shettima as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Tinubu and how the zone should position itself in bringing victory to the party at all levels.

“Participants resolved to work for the unity of party members and stronger commitment to mobilise Nigerians to vote to elect Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as the next President and Vice President of Nigeria and all candidates of the APC in the 2023 general elections,” the statement read.

The zonal stakeholders further disclosed that “another important issue discussed at the meeting is the ongoing voter registration exercise which the participants have taken note that the exercise is moving extremely slow due to the inadequacy of capturing systems which results to the poor outcome recorded by the geographical zone.”

“Lukman assured the participants that all the issues raised during the interaction will be reflected in his report at the end of the tour for proper documentation and action.

“The Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Badaru Abubakar, represented by his deputy and the party governorship candidate in the state, Umar Namadi, thanked the Lukman-led party officials for visiting the state on a fact-finding mission.

He enumerated measures taken to strengthen the party in the state, listing the establishment of a reconciliation committee saddled with the responsibility of reaching out to aggrieved party members.

“Another committee established by the Jigawa State Government is that of the voter registrations charged with the responsibility of ensuring a success of the exercise in the state,” the statement read.
