The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday won the state House of Assembly supplementary election held in the Ekiti East constituency 1.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the March 9, state Assembly poll in the constituency inconclusive and announced the candidates of APC winners in other 25 constituencies whose results were previously announced.

In a statement by the Ekiti State INEC,  HoD, Voter and Publicity, Mr Taiwo Gbadegesin, the result of the makeup poll was declared by the INEC Constituency Returning Officer for the election, Dr Chika Asokwa.

Asokwa said that the APC candidate, Mr Adegbuyi, Amos Oluwajuwa, polled 5,484 votes while the candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Fajana Ojo-Ade scored 3,258 votes.

He added that the candidates of ADC Omolayo, Olusola Roland, ADP, Oguntomole Femi, SDP, Ojo Florence Temitope, DA, Balogun Yetunde, PPN, Omokan Ademola and ZLP, Ayeni Ojo Adebayo garnered 529, 24, 03, 02, 0,0 respectively in the poll.

The election which was held under peaceful atmosphere, recorded an impressive turnout of voters who arrived early for accreditation, compared to what obtained two weeks ago.

There was heavy security mounted by a combined team of the police and men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Materials arrived early enough at the four pulling units where the exercise was taking place, even as the restriction of movement was strictly enforced in the entire local government area.

The four polling units, where the supplementary election was held in the constituency were Ward 9 Polling Unit 3 Aya Alaafe; Ward 9 Polling Unit 8, Odo oro; Ward 9 Polling Unit 9, Odo-ile and Ward 6 Polling Unit 3, Ekurugbe.
