The immediate past Managing Director of Dangote Sugar Refinery and All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Engr Abdullahi Sule appears to be heading for victory in the governorship election held in Nasarawa State on Saturday.

A two-time member of the House of Representatives, David Umbugadu, is the governorship candidate of PDP while former Information Minister, Labaran Maku, is the candidate of APGA.

Victory is being predicted as results began coming in from the various local governments.

So far the APC governorship candidate has won in seven local government areas and lost one out of 13 local governments in the state declared by INEC at the collection centre in Lafia.

From early results declared, Sule won in Keffi, Kokona, Toto, Wamba, Keana and Awe local government areas and lost in Doma local government to Zenith Labour Party.

Son of late Nasarawa State governor, Dr Aliyu Akwe Doma, Umar Doma who is the governorship candidate of Zenith Labour party delivered the local government to his party.

He polled 10, 879 votes to beat his closest rival in the local government, the PDP candidate who got 10,318 votes while APC came 3rd with 10,029 votes while APGA came a distant fourth with 8,568 votes.

Both the running mates of APC and PDP governorship candidates hail from Doma local government.

In Keffi LGA, APC got 25,589 votes while APGA got 2,028 and PDP polled 12,419 votes, in Kokona LGA, APC garnered 23,027 votes to beat APGA and PDP which scored 5,809 and 18,971 votes respectively. In Toto LGA, APC got 32, 213 votes in the governorship election against APGA with 1,889 votes and PDP 8,590 votes.

In Wamba LGA, APC governorship candidate polled a total score of 15, 706 vote to beat PDP with 9, 333 while APGA got a total number of 1, 772 votes.

Results released from Keana indicated that APC scored a total of 11, 759 votes, PDP got a total of 6, 579 votes while APGA got a total of 2, 869 votes.

Similarly, in Awe local government, APC scored 29, 443 votes to beat PDP which scored 9, 228 votes while APGA got a total of 1, 772 votes.

Before the conduct of Saturday’s governorship election, the APC, APGA and PDP governorship candidates were optimistic of winning the election.

Meanwhile, the incumbent Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ibrahim, Balarabe Abdullahi, has won his re-election in the last Saturday’s election as declared by the Returning Officer of Umaisha/Ugya state constituency, Maji Ibrahim Ladan, in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The Speaker who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the election with 7,358 votes to defeat the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Yahaya, Ohinoye Usman who scored 3,339 votes.
