Kano State Chapter of Advance People’s Democratic Alliance (APDA) has expressed support for the postponement of last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

The party’s chairman in the state, Alhaji Bashir Hamza Batalya, disclosed this during a press conference, yesterday, where he also said that the decision was the only option left for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); in the face of the unforeseen challenges.

Batalya appealed to Nigerians to exercise their mandate during the forthcoming elections at the state and federal levels and wished Nigerians a violent free, credible and historical democratic experience.

Meanwhile, parties in Niger State said they have put behind, what some of them described as the “shock and embarrassment” caused by INEC’s postponement of the elections.

The two leading political parties, the ruling All Progressive Congress and the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state claimed that the postponement hasnfurther reawakened the morale of their supporters; to go to the polls on Saturday, and elect their candidates.

The parties were, however, unanimous in warning INECto “put its house in order,” in order to forestall another postponement.

Chairman of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Tanko Beji, said election postponement is not new “even though this postponement lacks human face, coming few hours to the commencement of the elections.”

Also APC stalwart and the Special Adviser to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello (All Matters), Mr Pius Wakili, said “APC is ready for the election.”

Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and former speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Isah Kawo said whatever reason was advanced by INEC for the postponement, “Nigerians should take it in good faith and come out on Saturday to exercise their civic right.”
