An Appeal Court sitting in Kaduna has confirmed Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf as the bona fide candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State for Saturday’s governorship election.

The court, presided by Justice Daniel O. Kalio, equally granted all the prayers put forward by the appellate in the case.

The Appeal Court also restrained INEC from removing the name of Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf and other PDP candidates from the list of 2019 contestants.

It would be recalled that the PDP had sought a stay of execution on an earlier judgement of a Federal High Court in Kano on the validity of the party’s governorship primary election held on October 2, 2018.

Responding shortly after the verdict, Engineer Yusuf said he was not surprised at the outcome of the case at the Appeal Court.

“As I have stated in the past, the case mainly concerns our party and an aggrieved member who is working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to remedy the fast-growing unpopularity of Gov Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,” he said a statement signed by his spokesman, Alhaji Sanusi Bature.
