Suspected armed robbers, on Thursday morning, attacked a Global Telecommunication Network provide (Glo) mast erected at Mayama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The robbers reportedly carted away two AK47 of two police officers that were posted to secure the facility.
It was gathered that the suspects numbering 18, stormed the Glo mast area at about 3:00 a.m, over-powered the two police officers on duty and took away their ammunition.
Sources informed Daily Sun that the suspected armed robbers beat the affected officers to coma before they made away with their rifles belonging to Nigeria police.
It was learnt that the wounded officers later raised alarm over the incident which prompted the reinforcements of more police officers to the nearest bush the robbers used for cover up.
While confirming the incident, Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) of Kebbi State Police Command, DSP Mustapha Suleiman, said the affected officers have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Suleiman disclosed that the suspected armed robbers were 18 in numbers saying, ” our men have condoned off the bush around to ensure that they did not escape. As am speaking with of now, they are still there .”
