It was a bitter and agonising experience for patients when armed robbers attacked the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.
According to a witness, the robbers, fully armed, stormed the hospital around 1am on Tuesday and operated freely for more than one hour.
Daily Sun gathered that the robbers,  numbering about five, first attacked the ward housing patients who did surgery before going to the female ward. They dispossessed patients and their family members  of over 45 mobile phones and unspecified amount of money.
One of the patients, Umoru, said the robbers ransacked the wards, warning victims to cooperate or get harmed.
One of the victims described the incident as “a very strange and terrifying experience,” saying for armed robbers to attack sick people in the hospital shows the level of wickedness in the country.
Efforts to speak with the management of the medical centre proved abortive, as nobody was willing to speak.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Willy Aya, said the police were yet to be briefed on the incident.
