The Nigerian Army Battalion has organized free medical services to scores of locals in a Borno’s liberated community as part of activities to commemorate this year Armed Forces Remeberance Day.

Commanding Officer, 222 Battalion Nigerian Army in Konduga, Borno’s former volatile town, Lieutenant Colonel Olugbenga Osuntuyi, said the battalion also held football match and sanitation exercise for the 2023 Armed Forces Celebration Day Ceremony at Konduga, headquarters of Kondzga Local government.

“The events were organized to bring the people closer to the command as well as to boost Civil Military relationship in the community as we mark the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day,” he said in his opening remark.

Commander 21 Special Armoured Brigade, Maj Gen Adewale Adekeye who was the special guest of honour, commended the battalion for holding the activities.

Represented by the Brigade Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel Williams Ogbuoloko, the Brigade Commander said the activities will foster Civil-Military corporation (CIMIC) and promote the spirit of excellence as well as healthy relationship among the people; the host communities.

Konduga, a restive community located in the central part of the state experienced over a dozen attacks by Boko Haram between 2014 and 2017, leading to the displacement of thousands of civilians, destruction of public and private infrastructure later rebuilt by the state government.
