Uncooperative attitude of the Army hierarchy, easy access in obtaining certificate of Local Government Area of origin and logistics challenge have been identified as reasons why non-indigenes impersonate Kwara citizens during Army recruitment exercise.

Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, gave this indication in  Ilorin, while appearing before the State House of Assembly Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Judiciary on what the State Government was doing to curb the trend of shortchanging the state, during Army recruitment exercise.

Gold enumerated efforts by the state government at ensuring that only genuine indigenes of the state were recruited into the Army and disclosed that his office had been confronted with some challenges in the task of detecting those impersonating Kwarans.

The SSG who highlighted the challenges, said those who engaged in the fraud could not be persecuted due to the inability of the security agencies to apprehend  culprits at the screening exercise.

Gold who praised the responsiveness of the state House of Assembly to the problem, urged the House to ensure Local Government Councils in the State sponsor their  representatives to the screening exercise, in view of its importance to the wellbeing of the state.
