Nigeria former international and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Sub-committee member, Garba Lawal, has urged Super Eagles  technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, to concentrate in perfecting technical strategy with the players he has in his fold instead of experimenting with the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Africa qualifier  matches.

Reacting to the Eagles tactician’s continued search for new players, especially in the defence line ahead of the Eagles next match against Cameroon in August, Lawal argued that he should settle down with the players he has assembled to win all his matches so far rather than scouting Europe for new players.

According to Lawal; “Continuity is very important at this crucial moment of the qualifiers, He has to stop this continuous search for Nigerian players abroad and concentrate with what he has right now. He has the players that have given him results, so why the worry and continued search,” he queried.

“If a player is invited and he fails to come, you forget about him and concentrate on those who have decided to give loyalty to Nigeria.

So, I believe he has to focus on the ones that have already given him victory after three games rather than the moves to bring in new players ahead of the two qualifiers against Cameroon and Algeria,” he argued.

Rohr had hinted that he may introduce new players like Tyronne Ebuehi, Jordan Torunarigha and Kevin Akpoguma in the teams’ next matches.
