Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji has expressed his sadness over the news of the death of elder statesman and first Republic Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amechi.

The former Aviation Minister who held the title of Dara Akunwafor in Amihe Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government of Anambra State died on Monday, November 1, 2022 at the of 93 years.

Nnaji in a condolence letter he personally signed, described the nonagenarian’s death as the end of an era, noting that he died at a time his wise counsel was highly desirable.

The Aviation Committee Chairman also emphasised that the late patriarch’s contributions to the development of air transportation in the country as an ex-Aviation Minister remained indelible.

He further stated that his death is a big loss not just to the aviation community but to the South East and Nigeria in general. Nnaji prayed for the repose of his soul and urged the immediate family to be consoled by the enviable legacies Amechi left behind.
