The Academic Staff Union of Universities has declared an indefinite strike to press home the implementation of their demands.
The decision to go on the industrial action was taken on Sunday night by the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of ASUU held at Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA).
A source told Daily Sun on Sunday night that all the branches of ASUU voted in support of the industrial action which is with immediate effect.
Among ASUU demands include renegotiation of the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement, non payment of N1.3 trillion NEEDS assessment funds, earned academic allowances, issue of pension administration and other contending outstanding issues.

Lecturers are expected to withdraw their service from today.
