The Eze Ndigbo Ghana, HRH Eze (Dr) Chukwudi Ihenetu has paid tribute to late Ghanian President, JJ Rawlings describing him as a statesman.

In a statement made available to Daily Sun, the royal father said legacies of the late former Ghanian President will forever remain in the mind of Ghanian people.

In an event attended by Eze Ihenetu, his wife, Lolo Ugoeze Liberty Quainoo Ihenetu, his children and  HRH. Eze Samuel, HRH Eze Chuma, President of Chiefs in Igbo palace, Ghana, Chief Vincent and other palace chiefs, the royal father urges African leaders to emulate the late Ghanian leader whose reforms  transformed Ghana to a modern state in Africa.

While commending Ndigbo for their peaceful coexistence with their Ghanian neighbours, Eze Ihenetu urges them to be law abiding assuring them that soon, the misunderstanding between Nigerians in Ghana and Ghanian Trade Union would soon be over.

Going  down memory lane, Eze Ihenetu recalled that the late Rawlings supported the establishment of Igbo traditional  institutions in Ghana. He added that as friend of Ndigbo, the late Rawlings encouraged cordial relations between Ndigbo and their Ghanian host communities

He said as cultural and traditional leader of Ndigbo in Ghana, he would continue to promote Igbo interest in the Diaspora
