•Charges CBN to address hardship

Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has lambasted his APC counterpart, Bola Tinubu, for allegedly attempting to distance himself from the “many failures” of the ruling party.
Atiku, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, said it was funny that Tinubu, who is a national leader of the APC could be criticising the Federal Government.
Shaibu recalled that the APC candidate, while addressing a campaign rally in Calabar, had stated that: “Today, they moved the exchange rate from N200 to N800. If they had repaired it, if they had arrested this, we wouldn’t be where we are today, we would be greater. They don’t know the way, they don’t know how to think, they don’t know how to do it.
“Tinubu has disingenuously been criticising President Buhari, trying to extricate himself from the failures of the APC which he had vigorously defended in the last eight years. Nigerians must not be deceived by this charlatan who is now posing to be on the side of the masses.
“Tinubu is the APC, mind, soul and body. He was the national leader of the party even before Buhari became the presidential candidate. Is it possible for a snail to deny its own shell? Tinubu needs to give up this rascally act and take ownership of the failure of his party in the last eight years. His latest outburst is nothing but diversionary tactics.”
The former Vice President also charged the Central Bank of Nigeria( CBN) to take measure to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians, especially rural dwellers, as a result of the scarcity of the redesigned N1,000, N500 and N200 notes.
Atiku, in a statement by the Abubakar Presidential Campaign Office, yesterday, thanked the apex bank for extending the deadline for the old notes.
He urged the CBN to take measures to ensure that the new notes are better circulated before the February 10 new deadline for the phase out of the old notes.
The PDP candidate also urged the apex bank not to entertain demand for further extension of the deadline for the phase out of the old notes, noting that it will not be in the overall interest of the country.
