Atiku wins landslide in Imo
The presidential standard bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has won a landslide victory in Imo State.
He scored a total of 334, 923 votes, beating the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, President Muhammadu who scored 140, 463 votes.
Alhaji Abubakar won in 25 of the 27 local governments, while Buhari won in two councils namely Oru East and Ideato South. The later local government is home to Senator Hope Uzodinma who is APC’s governorship candidate in the state, while Ideato South is the local government of the incumbent state governor, Rochas Okorocha.
The INEC Returning Officer in the state, Prof Benjamin Ozumba, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, announced the results of the remaining three LGAs on Tuesday morning at the commissions’ office in Owerri.
