The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has declared that the endorsement of the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by Afenifere and Ohanaeze Ndigbo will not affect the chances of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 16 presidential election.

The South West regional coordinator of the campaign council, Chief Olusola Oke who addressed a press conference in Akure ahead of today’s visit of President Buhari to the state, said the party was not moved by the endorsement.

Oke who noted that both the Afenifere and Ohanaeze are not political parties expressed surprise at the involvement of the two socio-cultural organisations in partisan politics.

Besides, Oke declared that the South West region is the stronghold of the APC and called on the people to show their love for the party through their votes come February 16.

He said the South West has in the last three and half years enjoyed more dividends of democracy than it did during the 16 years rule of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“The South West is the engine room of this government. Buhari has done more for us than the PDP did in 16 years of its government. We have been a major beneficiary of the APC government and we are ready for the next level.

“Rehabilitation and expansion of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, construction of 158km Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail, dualisation of Oyo-Ogbomosho road, Lagos-Ore-Benin road and other major infrastructures are being centred in this region by Buhari.

“Major ministries are being managed by our people from the South West. You don’t change a winning formula. We want to retain a working formula,” he added.
