The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Technical and Recreational Employees (AUPCTRE) has called on the Federal Government to expedite action on payment of arrears as it would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of workers.
Chairman of the group in the FCT, Mr. Benjamin Anthony, who made the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, on Thursday, stressed on the essentiality, noting that current economic crunch is hitting hard on federal workers.
He, however, praised the Federal Government for approving N44 billion for the payment of backlog of promotion arrears, salary shortfalls and other claims owed by the federal public servants since 2012.
Anthony lauded the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for taking giant stride in spite the current economic challenges the country has faced to encourage workers put in their best for the country’s development.
The chairman also charged AUPCTRE leaders in Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs), to ensure strict compliance and implementation of proper placement of salary steps of workers.
This which he stated was contained in the circular from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation dated July 14; 2014.this which he stated was not being complied with by MDA’S.
“The circular with reference; HCSF/CSO/HRM/POL.1402/1/25 was however, not being implemented by many MDA’s as directed by government,” the chairman said.
AUPCTRE chairman also noted that the union had observed with dismay that many organisations were claiming ignorance of the circular and have been placing wrong salary steps of workers during promotion.
He, therefore, called on branches of the union in such MDA’s to check and ensure compliance with the circular.
