Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi has declared that the Falcons are in Cameroon to defend the title won two years ago in Namibia.
The coach who spoke after her girls went goalwire in Limbe yesterday beating Mali 6-0 in their very first game of Cameroon 2016 said she is in the tournament with a team that no opposition can stop.
In her words: “We are here to defend our trophy. My team is 100 per cent ready. I brought the best players at my disposal here and the transition from 2014 squad to current squad has been smooth and the chemistry is high.”
Asisat Oshoala scored four while Francisca Ordega and Uchechi Sunday also found the back of the net in the rout of Mali.
Head coach of the African champions, Florence Omagbemi, named a startlist without Desire Oparanozie with Sunday preferred upfront alongside Arsenal Ladies striker, Oshoala. Faith Ikidi, Onome Ebi, Ordega, Halimatu Ayinde and captain Rita Chikwelu completed Nigeria’s list of overseas-based team.
Mali’s head coach, Oumar Guindo had after the heavy defeat to Nigeria said his team would bounce back against Kenya on Wednesday.
In his words: “We have a young team that play good football. This defeat won’t dampen our spirit. We hope to do well against Kenya in our next match.”
While Mali faces Kenya, the Super Falcons would slung it out with  Ghana in a clash of heavyweights on same day.
