Time is fleeting, fragile and not anyone’s friend. But there are things that stand the test of time, things that last like love. That’s how many felt about accomplished banker and boardroom Amazon, Oluwatomi Somefun who just joined the sexagenarian club.  The latest entrant into the diamond club of 2022 is the Managing Director/CEO of Unity Bank Plc. She celebrated her 60th birthday on October 2, 2022, with family members and some select friends joining the great lady on her Diamond Jubilee.

Somefun is a 1981 English graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife). As a career professional with 35 year-post qualification experience, over 26 of which has been in the banking sector, Somefun does not have any question mark about her competence. She is a leader who understands how to bring out the best in people, as well as uses knowledge and time to achieve significant results for all stakeholders.

As Unity Bank boss, Somefun has successfully launched new initiatives and championed growth in several operations over a short period.

The banking amazon is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). She is also an alumnus of the Columbia Business School, and INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France, and holds a Certificate of Management Excellence from Harvard Business School (HBS). Her marriage to Babajide Anthony Somefun is blessed with children and grandchildren.
