Key petroleum sector stakeholders from Nigeria were absent on Wednesday, the third day of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference (NOG), in honour of Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo, the Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), who died on Tuesday night at about 11pm, aged 63.

The general mood at the conference was low as no one ever imagined such a calamity could befall the conference, especially as Barkindo showed no signs of sickness.
