Tolulope “Jordan” Omogbehin, better known in World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE as Omos turned out to be a huge surprise to many who were present for a press conference at the Sheraton hotel in Lagos on Tuesday.
The surprise was that not many knew that the WWE is Nigerian and in fact still speaks his local dialect of Yoruba fluently.
Omos, who just one day after traveling 17 hours to Saudi Arabia where he faced Braun Strowman in a literally gigantic match at Crown Jewel revealed how he started off as a basketball player before venturing into wrestling.
“It’s nice to be back home for the first time in 14 years. The journey has not been easy but when I went to the United States, I went as a basketball player. Things didn’t work out the way I had hoped but I must say here that the game of basketball prepared me for wrestling.
“As a young player in Nigeria, I was training with Raptors Basketball Club at the National Stadium, Lagos and to also let you know that I schooled in Lagos too.”
Omos who is in Nigeria in the company of another WWE star of Nigerian parentage Apollo Crews stated that they are happy to be in Nigeria to help find new talents that can carve a niche for themselves through wrestling.
Raptors Basketball Coach, Charles Obiakor while confirming the 400-pound, 7’3”-tall wrestler trained in his academy expressed joy that the former cry baby as he used to call Omos expressed joy that the WWE star recognized the role basketball played in his career.
