The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee yesterday warned that Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, must play an entirely new team from the one he fielded in last month’s 2019 AFCON qualifying match against South Africa in Uyo, if the team must beat Cameroon in the September 1 FIFA 2018 FIFA world cup qualifying game against Cameroon.

A member of the NFF technical committee, Paul Bassey, insisted that Cameroon would thrash the Super Eagles team which lost 2-0 at home to South Africa last month because they were not Nigeria’s best. Nigeria will host African champions, Cameroon on September 1 in Uyo with the return clash in Yaounde four days later in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Bassey expressed shock at the loss to South Africa, adding that the defeat was a rude awakening, which showed the Eagles have to play their best players against Cameroon in September to stand any chance of recording victory. “If the team which played against South Africa is used against Cameroon, we would be thrashed because against South Africa we did not field the best we had,” he argued.

“But good enough we have seen we have to do more by the time we face Cameroon”, noted the CAF committee member, who is also the chairman of Nigeria Premier Football League side, Akwa United FC.
