Kano State Governor, Dr.  Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has urged residents of  the state to be extra vigilant saying that fleeing members of the Boko Haram sect are likely to sneak into safe areas, having been dislodged from Samsisa Forest.
The governor  issued the warning yesterday in his 2017 New Year message, advising the public to alert the nearest security agencies in the event of any suspicious movement, object or character in their midst.
He applauded President Muhammadu Buhari on the heroic capture of the dreaded Sambisa Forest, which he said had signalled the final subdue of the insurgents by the Nigeria Army.
According to him, the achievement was heart-warning in Kano State in view of the fact that the state was among the affected  states by the activities of the insurgents.
Ganduje, who wished the people a prosperous year, also urged them to continue to pay their taxes as and when due, saying that  taxes remained the major source of funding for a host of developmental projects being embarked upon by his administration.
He said that though the administration was faced, like other states, with a financial crunch due to the dwindling revenue from the federation account, the governor promised to make judicious use of whatever little was availed to them as well as  work hard to improve the state’s internal revenue base.
While pledging to execute more projects and improve the wellbeing of the people, he affirmed his administration’s commitment to the completion of inherited projects, initiation of new ones, such as roads, bridges , underpass, flyover among others.
