Skin care expert, Aisha Tolu Idris, has advised parents to be more involved in catering for their children and looking out for their welfare.
She was speaking on the backdrop of schoolchildren, and minors generally who have become victims of molestation due to their parents or caregivers’ neglect.
She warned that, neglecting the responsibilities of parenthood is a serious behavioural issue on the part of parents.
“I have counseled parents to pay particular attention to their wards. Nobody should be too busy for their children. Leaving the responsibilities of your children to their teachers, is disastrous.
“Children look at what their parents do and learn from there. We should set a template of love and care, so that the children we raise will not be a menace in our society,” Aisha said.
She admonished parents to lay a good foundation for their children, saying, “My parents laid a solid foundation for us, that is why I can stand tall today, to also advise others. Parenting is a task, so, one must be fully prepared for it before accepting the responsibility.”
“No level of work should overwhelm the love parents should show their kids. It is important to stress that, as we see parents struggle to work to give a better life to their kids, but with little or no care.
“Parents should also take care of themselves, because, it is when they are happy, that they can give out happiness,” Aisha advised
