An All Progressives Congre‎ss (APC) senator, Mr Shehu Sani, has urged the Federal Government to be truthful to Nigerians while communicating its programmes and activities.

This is as Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said that both the executive and legislative arms of government were on the same page in delivering democratic goods to the people.

Senator Sani, who spoke when the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity led by its Chairman, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi Sabi, visited the minister in his office yesterday, ‎noted that the people must be told the truth at all times, adding “we have nothing to defend again. The socio-economic situation is a reality.”

Also speaking, the Committee Chairman said as managers of information and communication in the two arms of government, they should proactively work to promote and canvass for the urgent need to ensure genuine and sincere actions anchored on rule of law, due diligence and due process.

Senator Sabi emphasised the importance of confidence building and co-opting ‎critical stakeholders and their competences by government.

Responding, the minister noted that the visit has shown that there was no feud between the two arms of government, stressing that any of such was a figment of imagination.

Mohammed explained that the people had been at the centre of government policies and programmes; which gave rise to the government going beyond the traditional media of communication to involving town hall meetings.

He pointed out that the legislative agenda of the 8th Senate anchored on improving governance, improving business and improving livelihood was in line with the focus of the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
