Noah Ebije, Kaduna.
There was tension in Kaduna city, on Sunday, as rumour spread across the state capital that reprisal attack was taking place in Kujama market, Chukun Local Government Area of the state following last week bloody crisis in Kasuwan Magani area of the state.
However, our correspondent gathered that traders at Kujama market (few kilometers to Kasuwan Magani), on Sunday, started running helter-skelter when swarm of bees allegedly stormed the market arena and started stinging the people.
The news of people running out of the market spread like wild fire to neighbouring settlements of Maraban Rido, Sabo Tasha, Narayi, Banarwa, Ungwan Romi as well as Ahmadu Bello Way.
Consequently, traders in these areas hurriedly packed their wares and took to their heels without actually knowing why they were running.
According to an eyewitness who did not want his name in print, “People should stop spreading rumour, because spreading rumour is dangerous.
“What really happened in kujama market was that it was bees that enter the market, and out of panic people started running without finding out what went wrong”.
Youths from Barnawa area and Narayi bus stop were seen looking angry.
Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s media Spokesman has announced a 24 -hour curfew being imposed on Kaduna town and environs with immediate effect.
Our Correspondent noted that cars were destroyed, but soldiers were able to take over Ahmadu Bello Way with their truck conveying people who were stranded following the curfew.
