Nigerian Army has organized a 3 – day workshop for its Project Officers as part of effort to enhance their management capacity in modern engineering best practices and processes.
The workshop which is taking place at the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering, Makurdi, is the second project management workshop for the year 2022.
Flagging off the workshop titled: “Enhancing Global Best Practices in Project Delivery in Nigeria Army,” the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Faruk Yahaya, stated that the overall objective of the workshop is to promote timely delivery of high quality projects for the Army and to apply modern practices and process at a minimal cost since most of it’s project were executed through direct labour.
Yahaya, who was represented by the Army Engineers Corp Commander, Major General, Kamilu Kadiri, said he was confident that the workshop will provide useful policy options for contemporary and future project delivery and urged participants to take advantage to broaden their knowledge in project planning and management
The Chief of Army Staff assured them of his continuous support for all measures that will better the living conditions of personnel saying they have, in no small measure, contributed to the recent successes against Book Haram and other terrorist groups in the country.
 Yahaya further informed that to shore up troops morale and well being, he is embarking on several other projects, some of them to be undertaken by Nigerian Army Special Projects (NASP), which includes, the construction of a new barracks at Asokoro in Abuja, construction of 28 Support Engineers Regiment in Sokoto as well as Sergeant Major houses across Army formations and units.
He revealed that 53 X regimental  Sergeant major houses have been commissioned while 14 are at various stages of completion.
He also named the construction of office complexes for various establishment, Directorate of Army Physical Training and Directorate of legal services, Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information, Military Police and Depot Nigerian Army and several others.
He commended the Corps Commander for the numerous projects successfully executed through direct labour as well as the coordinator and staff of the Nigerian Army Special Projects for always exhibiting professionalism.
Earlier, the Coordinator, Nigerian Army Special Projects, Major General Shamsudeen Safari, said the project management workshop will feature several presentations, discussions sessions and a demonstration in line with its theme and objective and most importantly, will refresh participants on global trends in construction management to enhance timely delivery of quality projects.
