A Coalition of Networks and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in Benue State has called on the public to maintain peace and order during this Saturday’s supplementary election in some polling units in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the group Dr. Helen Teghtegh and Dorcas Iorkusa, while looking forward to a conclusive supplementary election this Saturday, enjoined voters in the affected polling units where the election would be held to come out en masse and vote.

The group advised youths to remember that ”Election No Be War” stressing that, “youths should embrace peace and refuse to be engaged by any politician to cause any electoral violence in the state.”

They also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (lNEC) to maintain its integrity by ensuring it works by the books throughout the electoral process.

While noting that it would be supportive and collaborate with the media to ensure transparency during the entire voting process, the coalition appealed to foreign observers to participate fully as key stakeholders during the re-run election.

“We are calling on the commissioner of police to stay true to the mandate and provide security during the rerun elections in Benue State.

“Finally, we would like to appeal to lNEC to call a stakeholders’ meeting with representatives of affected communities to pass valuable information about the re-run elections and other related issues.”
