The Benue State Police Command has paraded 14 suspected criminals who were arrested for various offenses ranging from armed robbery, rape, cultism and other nefarious acts in the last two weeks.

Among those paraded is one Ifeanyi Christopher who was two weeks ago paraded in connection with the theft of a Toyota Sienna bus which was recovered.

The modus operandi of Christopher, a university graduate was to hire a bus and its driver and as soon as they embark on the said trip, he would drug the driver with an obnoxious substance and then make away with the vehicle while the driver was still sleeping.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Omololu Bishi disclosed to newsmen while parading the suspect that further investigation led to the recovery of one Honda Accord 1999 model from the same suspect.

Christopher, in a chat with our correspondent, confessed to the crime saying since he was introduced into the unholy business by one James Okoye in January this year, he had stolen three vehicles so far, blamed the devil for his action.

Bishi also paraded another set of two suspected criminals who robbed and raped their female victim in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

“On 09/02/2019 at about 1800hrs some armed robbers operating with a motorcycle behind Bem Hotels, Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi, abducted and conveyed a (female) victim to Quararafa Quarters, Wadata where they raped and robbed the victim of a phone and the sum of N2,000 only. 

“During investigation, one Tersoo Joseph alias Adikpo and Demenenge Gabriel Iorwa all ‘m’ of Logo 1 Makurdi were arrested in connection with the case. Suspects have confessed to the crime. They will soon be charged to Court. 

Also, two suspected cultists, Victor Egbodo and Udoh Emmanuel who were said to have confessed to being members of System Black Movement (SBM) confraternity were paraded.

The duo, including one with a black mark known as ‘tears of sorrow’ close to his left eye were said to have been apprehended by police patrol team in Kanshio area of Makurdi based on intelligence report.

Armed robbery suspects including Johnson Ekoja, Emmanuel Ogiri, Anthony Ojela, Justice Agada, Emmanuel Patrick, Emmanuel Atoju and Stanley Ugochukwu were also arrested and paraded with firearms and other items recovered from them.
