The authorities of Depot Nigerian Army, Nigerian Military School, Zaria, has warned citizens who not successful during the just concluded 76 Regular recruits intake exercise to beware of fraudsters.
According to a statement issued by Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Haruna Mohammed Sani, Depot Nigerian Army, some criminally-minded Nigerians were parading themselves as relatives to the Commandant to defraud unsuccessful persons by promising them recruitment opportunity.
“Recruitment into the Nigerian Army is free. No candidate is expected to pay money to any individual whatsoever,”. the statement stressed.
It also added that other dubious characters who claimed to be Principal Staff officers of the Depot deceived their victims to pay huge sum of money to be recruited into the Nigerian Army.
The statement continued, “It has been brought to the notice of Headquarters Depot Nigerian Army that criminal minded individuals are parading themselves as relative to the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu, to defraud innocent citizens who were not successful during the just concluded 76 Regular Recruits Intake exercise.
“Others also claim to be Principal Staff officers of Depot Nigerian Army thereby convincing their victims to pay huge sum of money to be recruited into the Nigerian Army.
“Sequel to the above, I am directed to please inform the general public that Depot Nigerian Army does not conduct recruitment exercises, rather the institution trains the already selected candidates.
“More so, Recruitment Exercise for 76 Regular Recruits Intake has since been officially closed.
“Consequently potential recruits are advised to try the next recruitment intake and not to allow these criminal minded and unpatriotic individuals to defraud them under any guise as such arrangement does not exist”.
