There have been numerous spectacular wedding ceremonies in the last ten months of 2022, but maritime mogul, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi may have delivered one of the most talked about society events of the year as the billionaire’s daughter, Mariam and her fiancé, Qudus just stole the show. Last Saturday October 22, Mariam married her fiancé Qudus, son of a popular Lagos businesswoman known as “Mummy Q”, at a lavish ceremony in Lagos.
It was a gathering of royalties, captains of industry and top notch socialites. Among those present at the wedding held over the weekend were former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience; Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and wife, Dr Ibijoke; Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his wife, Funso; the Oonirisa, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi stepped out with one of his fresh-minted Oloris, Maryam; Oluwo Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; Emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero; Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi; Oba Saheed Elegushi and Oniru Oba Omogbolahan Lawal.
No expenses were spared for the traditional ceremony —the first leg of two nuptial ceremonies— which took place at Marriott Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos. The white wedding will take place in Europe before the end of the year. Mariam, the bride, a law graduate of the University of Warwick, Coventry, England, is the group executive director of compliance at SIFAX Group. She is also the chief executive officer of Style Loft Box, a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle mall located in Victoria Island, Lagos.
