The opposition PDP has continued to maintain momentum in reclaiming Adamawa from the APC as it clinches two of the three senatorial seats up for grabs in Saturday’s elections in Adamawa State.

The PDP beat two incubent APC senators, Binta Masi Garba and Moallayidi Ahmed, as Binos Dauda Yero and Cliff Ishaku of the PDP traunced APC office holders from the northern and southern senatorial zones, respectively, to assert the party’s resurgence in the state.

Declaring the result of the southern zone in Numan, the Returning officer, Adamawa south zone, Joseph Apagu Tanko of Modibbo Adama university, Yola declared Binos Yero Dauda of the PDP as winner, having polled 164, 741 as against APC’s, Ahmed Moallayidi, who polled 118, 209.

Reacting to the victory, Binos Dauda said, “My victory is dedicated to the people of the zone and the victory is a strong sign of unity among diverse ethnic groups in the zone.

“For a very long time this zone has not had representation and we will make the voice of our people heard.”

Binos also commended the people for conducting themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner and dedicated his victory to them.

Binos had earlier accused the APC of failing to stand up for the people of the zone in the heat of a wave of fulani herdsmen attacks.

Cliff Ishaku of the PDP also criticised APC’s Binta Masi who was seeking for a return ticket to the Senate while Aishatu Dahiru Binani clinched a consolatory victory for the party by winning the central senatorial seat.
