The Eze Ndigbo Ghana, HRM Eze Dr Chukwudi  Ihenetu has commended President  Muhammadu  Buhari for reopening  the Seme Nigeria- Benin Republic border which serves as gateway to other countries in the West Africa Sub region.

President Buhari during  Federal Executive  Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo   through  the minister of Finance, Budget and Natiomal Planning Mrs  Zainab Ahmed  on Wednesday said  restrictions  on the importation of rice and other contraband commodities remains in place.

In a statememt, the royal father said many small businesses  depending  on cross-border  trading will now bounce back to life.

Eze Ihenetu explained that within 16 months of the border closure, West African countries including Ghana experienced  serious economic downturn with most of their goods perishing at the border posts.

While describing the developement  as glad tiding and  Christmas  gift to Nigerians, Eze Ihenetu call on all stakeholders to abide  by terms of agreement  by avoiding illegal bussiness transactions that could lead to the closure of the border  again.

In the same vein, Eze Ihenetu call on the Ghanaian  authority  to reciprocate  the fine gesture  by opening up shops of Nigerians closed by the Ghanian Trade  Union. He said with reopening of the border,  volume of trades in the subregion will increase.

He appealed  to Nigerians  in Ghana to continue  to be law abidding as the federal Government  is set to extend good governance to all and sundry.
