Challenger Jarrell Miller is adamant world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua won’t reach round eight.
The American made the prediction when assessing Joshua’s KOs and assuring the media of a June 1st victory.
‘Big Baby’ was in London recently and could be seen enjoying a cup of tea after the second leg of their press conference. Firmly at home in the UK, Miller continued to get under Joshua’s skin in the build up to their Madison Square Garden fight.
Speaking exclusively to WBN about that comment, the New Yorker was in confident mood.
“That’s what I’m trying to say, usually I start off slow for one or two rounds and I kind of pick the engine up,” Miller explained to World Boxing News.
Comments ratified by promoter Eddie Hearn during his time chatting to WBN, the longer the Joshua fight goes on, the more it turns in Miller’s favour.
Miller appeared cockier than Joshua’s previous opponents as he stated how he rips away the world heavyweight titles.
“We’re going to train for twelve hard rounds, he can’t keep that kind of pace up,” he promised. “If you notice that whenever AJ has got a knockout it’s because the other guy tires out a little bit. He gets a little beat up in the first couple of rounds.
“I’m aiming to keep that same energy the whole entire fight. Keep the same pressure up for the whole entire fight. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again.
“(Joshua is) not going to make it to round eight,” Miller concluded.
Joshua had his insults ready to throw at Miller, who did not seem fazed by any comments on offer.
Miller’s confidence and outgoing nature were very clear. Possibly giving him the upper hand in the verbal stakes by consistently rattling the champion.
