Chukwu urged residents to be more vigilant to foil attempts by Boko Haram bombers to infiltrate their communities to detonate bombs. He however maintained the affected camps were not officially recognized by the authority. Executive Chairman, Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Ahmed Satomi who was also at the scene of the blasts insisted that “due process was not followed in the establishment of the camp” making it susceptible for penetration by the Boko Haram bombers.

The victims are displaced persons that fled their homes at Gulumba in Kala Balge Local Government, Dikwa and Konduga local governments in the central part of Borno State, witnesses said. Spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), northeast, Abdulkadir Ibrahim in a statement said the first location, Gulumba houses about 199 internally displaced persons.
