The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Gabriel Olonisakin, is currently holding a crucial meeting with the service chiefs, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and security chiefs.

Our correspondent gathered that the meeting which is taking place in his office at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, is being attended by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar.

Also in attendance at the meeting which is holding to review the security situation security and arrangements put in place to ensure the conduct of smooth and peaceful elections, are the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu; Director-General, Department of State Security (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi; Director-General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar and the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Air Vice Marshall Ahmed Usman.

The meeting which started at about 12:30pm, also has in attendance the chiefs of training and operations of the army, Navy and Air Force as well as those from the police, DSS, DIA and the NIA.

Our correspondent gathered that the meeting is being held to put final touches to the already security arrangement put in place to checkmate electoral violence before, during and after elections.

Military sources told our correspondent that one of the areas the meeting is concentrating on is the perceived outbreak of electoral violence.
