For the past few years, raw and buzzing talent in the afrobeat music industry has been duly observed and recognized. The Nigerian singer has been making music that has won the heart of a good number of listeners.
Since the release of his highly anticipated single “Turn Up” and “Joro Kini Joro”. Yemim has established himself as one of Africa’s top-rising stars. Yemim whose growth in the industry is still fresh as he started making music professionally a few years ago yet he has slowly made a name for himself with his soothing melodic large catalog of music. Notwithstanding, the melodious way Yemim sings in his music obviously exposes his undiluted passion as a connoisseur of his craft. When Yemim was asked about the beginning of his love for music, he said his parents kicked against the idea of him becoming a music artist but the lack of support did not deter him from his passion and love for music.
Yemim whose full name is Opeyemi Ogundiran a native of Ibadan, from the western region of Nigeria explained further that his stage name was derived from his name Yemi Music, which makes it Yemim.
Yemim bosses comfortably in Afrobeat/Afropop genre due to the vibe and melody that comes with it and expresses the global Afrobeat acceptance as heartwarming. Yemim believes his music carries a lot of messages because he has a lot in him which wants to be preached to others. He also wants to tell the stories of those who don’t have a voice or of people whose voices are not heard. Good examples can be cited in the forthcoming single titled “Ore”, which means “friend” where Yemim advises people/friends to always not bottle things up and talk, let’s work it out together before it gets worse than it is.
