Seven persons have died in the Lekki phase one area of Lagos following the collapse of a five storey building.

It was gathered that the house came down at about 4.30 am on Tuesday during a thunder storm which was followed by a heavy down pour.

Nine persons were, however, rescued alive by a combined team of emergency workers drawn from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Federal and State Fire Service, the Police and some neighbours who trouped to the place soon after the incident occurred.

Witnesses told Daily Sun that the building is located around the Chisco Bus stop area opposite Oando filling Station in Lekki phase one.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) spokesman Ibrahim Farinloye told Daily Sun in an SMS that nine persons were also injured while rescue operation is still on going.
